Research Blog

My group is doing a music video to the song, "Stereo Hearts".

This song is song is categorized as a Pop/Rap. Pop/Rap music videos show:

  • Costumes: Men wearing either baggy, ghetto style clothing while women would usually wear a piece of clothing that makes them look more appealing/attractive, such as revealing clothing and expensive jewelry. For an example. in Saweetie's "Icy Grl", she wears expensive clothing and jewelry and in Rae Sremmurd's "Black Beetles", all the men were shown in baggy clothes and/or shirtless.

  • Props: Includes cars, radios, cigarettes and drinks.

  • The music is very upbeat and the flow between the music and vocals are very consistent.

  • The editing of the music video varies on the song. Songs that are more upbeat are faster and active with the shots. Songs that are less hectic, show shots way longer to more than likely to tell a story.

  • The camera shows focus to the person that is rapping/singing. The camera would also switch focus to other shots like people partying and having fun.

New Group, New Project

My groupmates for the new Music Video Project are my friends Constantine and Hadar. Constantine is a potential actor and recording assistant. Hadar is an actor, co-recording director and editing assistant for post-processing. I am a potential actor, co-recording director and video editor in post production.

I met Constantine our freshman year through a friend of ours named Jonathan. He is really funny, open to share feelings between and a really good listener. We both seemed to like the same things and share the same type of humor. We usually sat at lunch together and talked about what anime and game news are coming up and laugh at memes together. We soon became good friends and so I introduced him to my other friends from my past. Now we are all in a group chat and we all call and chat with one another almost everyday. Constantine is in the AICE Media Studies B Day class, which separates us by a one day advantage/disadvantage.

I met Hadar this year in AICE Media Studies for the commercial project. She is really funny and caring but can be sometimes really clumsy, which I can relate to in a way. Hadar and I were in a group with Alex and Jorge and we made our commercial project that we are so proud of to this day. During the editing process, Hadar was a good helper and was really invested into learning how to edit videos and make flashy effects. She is really dedicated to creative projects like this as she likes to share all her creativity as much as she can.

I feel like this group will definitely get the job done, I feel like we are going to have a lot of fun recording and editing the video for the project. Constantine is great when coming up with input of improvements and quick-thinking criticisms that most won't be able catch. Hadar's creativity and enthusiasm for the project will help build moral and sense of creativity flow through the group. I bring the technical intelligence for the project, knowing what settings to use, what equipment and actions to use, etc.

Re-Introduction

My name is Rashawn Granderson, I am 16 years old and I am a Junior at Fort Lauderdale High School. Not to many things have changed since I wrote my first introduction blog, I am still very shy when it comes to socializing, which make it hard for me to relate with people but I do have a habit of still getting along with most people I met, despite not being relatable. Here are some new things about me that I didn't mention in my first introduction blog.

I love watching anime, Dragon Ball Z and Attack on Titan being my favorites; I enjoy watching horrible shows and movies and playing horrible games to learn what mistakes not to make when making my own media. I love to spend time with my close friends from Elementary School, Sebastian and David, as they are (in my opinion) the coolest and most fun people I know.

I recently been making up ideas on short films and mini comedy series that me and my friends can do and post online. One idea I had was to make a show like The Office, 30 Rock and Parks and Recreation, a mockumentary comedy taken place in a school with the main character is either the principal or teacher. The main difference is that even the camera crew are characters as well as they are film students at the school. It is similar to the one mentioned in the first blog, but I've decided to a dead-pan comedic but serious series.

My family watched my commercial project and were amazed at what me and my group have made. My family knows how much I love to edit videos, and they mention how this is one if my most professional looking and clean videos I've made. My mom recommended me to go to schooling for visual art and video editing and get a degree in those classes, while my dad mentions how he sees so much potential of my skills and the amount of creativity I have is outstanding. My younger sister Jada watched the video as well and was the most surprised of all the people who watched the video. She wouldn't stop begging me to make more videos like these so she can share to her friends and brag about how talented of a brother she has, which made me laugh, especially at the fact that she is the type of person to do that.

I also am doing my best to distance myself from social media, as I feel like it is somewhat corruption to someone's self worth and self-esteem. I've seen people degrade themselves for clicks on TikTok and people crying over losing a few followers, and I don't want to fall into that rabbit whole. I have self control and somewhat of respect for myself to know not to be like that, but I feel like social media as a whole is just a toxic waste land waiting for me to enter it and be infected by it as well. I don't post much, to sometimes nothing at all for months, because I am disconnected from the idea of social fame from Instagram and TikTok. YouTube fame is a different story for me but all the other sites is a straight no, unless I am promoting something or talking to friends.

In short, I don't feel like I've changed since then besides my editing skills improving, but a lot has happened in the time in-between and I'm looking forward to what more things are happening in the future.
